The film is grounded by excellent and complex performances from its leads, making it more than your average torture film. Forgettable characters, boring plot, below average set up. Even if I don't always love his movies, I certainly enjoy the experience. As viewers, we are witness to the systematic destruction of several people, male and female. The film took me on a brutal and fucked up journey and ended with me screaming in cheer at my laptop and scaring my cats in the process. Once this is done, they are subjected to various atrocities by an unseen photographer, and at times, forced to mutilate themselves, with one of the worst examples being a woman held at gunpoint and ordered to give herself a partial Glasgow Smile with a pair of scissors. It's Eurosleaze meets Shot-On-Video meets Cinemax late night! The intro is also extremely annoying. The film is sick, twisted, dark and disturbing and, in a messed up way, beautiful. Freya is her latest victim.
By the looks of it, Mills is going to keep going for crazy in his films and I'll keep watching. I'd rather be in a snuff photography session than watch this again. By the looks of it, Mills is going to keep going for crazy in his films and I'll keep watching. He has a vision that is rare in the low-to-no budget horror field. Also, my negative review is for this movie not for Dustin Mills who I have found to be an excellent micro-budget indie director. In the space of less than a year, Mills has released four low budget genre movies. Read on for my thoughts. But Rose's latest quarry, Freya, isn't willing to go down without a fight. She lures unsuspecting men and women into her grasps and breaks them down until there is nothing left.
