. When Princess Minnie Mouse Russi Taylor fears for her life, she calls on the captain of the Musketeers, Peg-leg Pete Jim Cummings to assign her Musketeer bodyguards. It is a film for all ages. Then they meet the royal musketeers. I suppose it is a combination of the way the Beagle Boys' faces are drawn mixed with the actor's voices for these roles. He begins with Mickey Donald and Goofy struggling to survive in the gutter. Three young friends -- Mickey, Donald, and Goofy -- are destitute.
Cute little Disney film with Mickey, Donald and Goofy as The Three Musketeers, or is that supposed to be Mouseketeers? The story, while not very faithful to the classic tale, is very nice, and goes at a fast pace. An underlying theme is the romance between Princess Minnie and Mickey the Musketeer. I liked the songs also, with some very funny lyrics and random in some of them set to the works of classical composers like Beethoven and Grieg. Three street urchins, Mickey Mouse Wayne Allwine , Donald Duck Tony Anselmo and Goofy Bill Farmer , are attacked in an alley and saved by the three Musketeers, heroes who often interfere when bad things are happening. Parents need to know that this Disney cartoon involves a major villain and his four sidekicks who battle against the three classic characters of Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck. Despite this, the tale is action-packed if too violent for younger kids and colorful. But things change when Princess Minnie demands Musketeer bodyguards when assassins, hired by Pete so he can be king, nearly drop a safe on her.
I've been around a long time and I can remember seeing Mickey shorts at the theater when I was a boy, and I had no idea that the kids today even knew who the little mouse was. The fact that Minnie is so helpless throughout the movie doesn't send a good message to kids about gender roles, especially because the idea of female helplessness is reinforced so frequently in mass media. So, imagine my surprise when they said they wanted to watch their Mickey Mouse movie. Neither has ever had a partner, or a friend for that matter. And let me tell you I sat down on the couch with my grandkids all around me and we all laughed at Mickey, Donald, and Goofy, as they barreled through their own wacky version of the Three Musketeers tale. Alas, they end up as janitors for the head of the musketeers, a nefarious fellow named Peg Leg Pete.
In the end, Pete's plan fails and the musketeers each find romance. Most of it is very colourful, though in the more sinister bits it is a little flat. The animation is not that bad at all. After being protected from robbers by royal agents -- musketeers -- they dream of one day becoming like their heroes. At one point, when Goofy is on the verge of being thrown into the ocean to die, a shot of many skeletons under the water appears. Much mayhem ensues, but the loyal and earnest trio perseveres, learning to be brave, use their brains, and help one another out.
For selfish reasons, Peg-leg Pete assigns the task to Mickey, Donald and Goofy who take the job very seriously. But things change when Princess Minnie demands Musketeer bodyguards when assassins, hired by Pete so he can be k. From that point on, the street urchins aspire to some day be just like the men who saved them. Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers is a 2004 Disney animated comedy adventure film directed by Donovan Cook. The film has good songs and the first song, I guess it is called The Musketeer Song is a fun little ditty. At that moment it sounded like the worst idea I had heard in a long time.
In addition, I hadn't heard about any Mickey Mouse movies in a very long time, so I was intrigued to see what this movie that the kids all wanted to see was all about. Peg-Leg Pete, captain of the Musketeers, points out why they'll never make it: Donald is a coward, Goofy is a dim-wit, and Mickey is short. To save themselves from peril, Manny, Sid, Diego, and the rest of the herd leave their home and embark on a quest full of thrills and spills, highs and lows, laughter and adventure while traveling to exotic new lands and encountering a host of colorful new characters. Will the three aspiring Musketeers be able to handle the task, or will they fail their first assignment? The plotline is about how Peg-leg Pete is trying to kidnap Princess Minnie and claim the throne for himself, with the help of the Beagle Boys, who, as I have said, steal the film. Best buddies Mickey, Donald, and Goofy are small-time janitors with big dreams of becoming Musketeers. When Donald is struggling with his decision to leave the trio, Mickey encourages him and reminds him of the ways he has been brave. Peg-Leg Pete, captain of the Musketeers, points out why they'll never make it: Donald is a coward, Goofy is a dim-wit, and Mickey is short.
Peg-Leg Pete, captain of the Musketeers, points out why they'll never make it: Donald is a coward, Goofy is a dim-wit, and Mickey is short. Two or three of them are awful, like Cinderella 2, but this one belongs up there with one of the more entertaining films. Although, the film could have done with being 5 to 10 minutes longer. Excellent animation, great and funny songs and a witty script make this straight-to-video release a real winder for the kiddies. Knowing real Musketeers are too-well trained, Pete hires Mickey, Donald, and Goofy, the clumsy janitors as Musketeers and Minnie's bodyguards. Peg-leg Pete gets quite a few laughs throughout this film. What elements would need to change to make that concept work, and why? In the end, each of the musketeers finds love and exchanges several exaggerated kisses with his partner.
Good things about this film: Very good humour, at least one laugh every few minutes, good use of classical music for songs, good animation, sweet simple images of Versailles, good talent and a good job of Mickey and his friends! I wondered if this had been some old movie that got lost in the Disney vaults, it was that good, and had such a timeless feel. Also, the focus on romance seems mildly inappropriate for the target age. The voice talents are top notch, especially Jim Cummings as Pete. I had visions of watching some 3D flying robots or some brightly colored animated ponies.
The female characters are pretty helpless, and the movie revolves around saving and kidnapping the princess and her lady-in-waiting. The plot has some funny twists, with Captain Pete plotting to kidnap Princess Minnie and take over as ruler. We all like the fun music, with the very funny words. The backgrounds are particularly bright and colorful and the animation is of a much higher level than usual for video productions. Best buddies Mickey, Donald, and Goofy are small-time janitors with big dreams of becoming Musketeers.
Knowing real Musketeers are too-well trained, Pete hires Mickey, Donald, and Goofy, the clumsy janitors as Musketeers and Minnie's bodyguards. The other characters overcome their fears and insecurities to fight for what's right. The trio are working at the palace as lowly janitors. Mickey Mouse is a good role model in that he is always optimistic, helpful, a hard worker, and a good friend. However, several years later, the three friends have made little progress toward their goal.
